Position Summary
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching seeks a Senior Brand Strategist to contribute critical guidance and expertise to advance the Foundation's brand strategy and programmatic communications. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Public Engagement, this strategic position will develop and implement communication strategies that will engage partners, funders, and stakeholders in the core work of the Foundation. The professional, a strong and experienced writer and strategic thinker, will work closely with programmatic staff to create dynamic communications plans and tactics and will develop content to promote and uplift the Foundation’s key messages and stories to external audiences, grantmakers, and stakeholders.
Essential Responsibilities
● Craft high-quality, compelling material to tell the Carnegie Foundation brand story with current and potential partners and the public (20% - long form content and publications)
● Develop brand visibility for public and partner-facing editorial content to include events and speaking engagements (20% - event tracking, event proposals, event ROS)
● Support the development and implementation of aligned brand communications across internal portfolio and project communications plans, and other reference materials (20% - talking points, connection to digital storytelling)
● Draft fundraising materials for specific programmatic initiatives in collaboration with program staff and the executive team. (15%)
● Provide strategic vision and tactical support for executing Foundation newsletters for external audiences (15%)
● Proactively research and understand best practices in the fi elds of communication and brand strategy including market/competitor research as needed and to stay aware of industry trends (5%)
● Support the integration of the initiatives listed above in the Communications and Engagement team operations (5%)
Non-Essential Responsibilities
● Assist with other marketing tasks to include website support, CRM contribution, event participation, and contribution to research initiatives.
● Identify and support staff communications learning opportunities, including training, development, and guidance.
● Create weekly internal and external agendas with vendors.
● Curate communications group assets in team knowledge management systems.
● Provide training and onboarding support to team members.
● Conduct task and project management support to ensure efficiency and team deadlines are met.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Strong digital communications and social media skills.
● A strong writer with a demonstrated understanding of how to craft compelling stories.
● Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
● A strong verbal communicator and presenter.
● Able to set and follow schedules and meet deadlines.
● Strong proofreading and copyediting skills.
● Able to work thoughtfully and fl exibly as part of a team and with external partners.
● Self-motivated, resourceful, and collaborative.
● Able to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Required Technical Skills
● Proficient in CRM, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent software packages.
● Proficient with graphic design and layout tools, including InDesign and PowerPoint.
The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday at a salary range of $105,000 - $115,000.
